Bird Festival in Dumaguete

Me helping Miss Lisa with the kids.
Not until I joined PBCFI that I ever experienced activities for bird conservation in a festival. I had less expectation as to what is really going to happen and it is always a delight to see myself enjoying every bit of it.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       We had this Mix and Match game that Miss Lisa innovated where you get to match the name of the bird provided in a corner to the pictures of the birds  installed in our booth. Mind you I got about 7 out of 15 when I tried it for the very first time. It is not that hard its just that reading the clues really takes time.

This happened in Dumaguete City in the very grounds of my Alma Mater, Silliman University last September 23- 24, 2011. I really had a good time and I cannot believe I will be able to come back to Silliman and participate in an activity. I saw former teachers especially PROF. ROY OLSEN DE LEON and college friends like CYD CATAN who is very pretty and feminine ditching off her boyish image 10 years ago.

I also met known wildlife photographers and I would say they are very friendly. I happen to sit in the dining table with the president of Silliman, DR. BEN MALAYANG. I happen to meet KAYE the cousin of my housemate in Cebu who is one of the staff of the Office of the President.

Call it starstruck but I met one of the country's finest artist. Though I never get the chance to take a photo of the artist of Papelmerotti, ROBERT ALEJANDRO, I will always remember that he talked to me when I told him that me and my sister are his fans. Manang Minnie loves Papelmerotti and that was her favorite shop in Cebu. But I think it is already closed and the one that is retained is in Manila. He was very warm and accommodating when I approached him asking him for an autograph for my sister. I wrote my sister's name Minnie in a sheet of paper and he made an artwork out of it. He made an owl on a branch from her name. It was amazing!  As bonus he gave me two personalized cards that he made and that really made my day!

Me and Doc Joanne, Curator and Vet of NFEFI and is one of my new found friends.

This is an endemic bird of Thailand. And I forgot the name. I will try to ask again.

That's Me and CYD. We are buddies in college and I really enjoyed her company so much! She will always be a friend to me!

With Students participating our Mix and Match game.

The bird in my face is supposed to be the Palawan Flowerpecker. To Miss Lisa, there is something wrong with the color. Hehehe.

Glory will we be to Silliman!

The BIRD FESTIVAL highlighted the endemic birds of Negros and the birds that can be found only in the Philippines and the neighboring countries. The diversity of Philippine Birds is really breathtaking!
